August (Auggie) Pullman is a completely normal ten year old boy, on the inside. August was born with an extreme congenital facial abnormality and was not even expected to survive past infancy. Homeschooled his entire life by his mother and sheltered by his loving family, August's world changes as he courageously enters the fifth grade at Beecher Prep, a private school in Manhattan. Readers follow a narration told by eight different characters as Auggie experiences the best and the worst of human nature and a year of tremendous emotional growth.
I absolutely adored this book! Wonder is a rare gem full of inspiration, sorrow, unconditional love and triumph reminding the reader that, in life, compassion and kindness will always overcome!
