Angelfall, by Susan Ee, is a thrilling, wonderful new book featuring a great new twist on angels. These heavenly beings have come down to supposedly take over earth and subjugate the human race, or so it seems to the humans. Penryn is one such human. Living with her mentally ill mother and physically handicapped younger sister, she knows she has to run to the hills to keep her family alive. But when they are escaping the city, she accidentally witnesses an angel's wings being cut off by others of his kind. As the other angels fly off, they steal Penryn's sister, for purposes she can only imagine. In a state of distress, Penryn rashly decides to try and save the fallen angel's life, if only so that he can lead her to her captured sister. And so begins Penryn's journey in which she discovers more about herself, life in this broken world, and definitely more about angels than she ever wanted to learn.
